ENEA

Current research activities and specific skills:

Enea develops embedded real-time software, including the OSE real-time kernel series (OSE, OSE Epsilon, OSE Ck), deadline scheduler and the Advanced Scheduling Framework. Other products include real-time databases, file systems and network stacks. These products are oriented towards distributed and safetycritical systems and are sold all over the world via the Eneas sales organisation. Enea also provides services in real-time systems development.

Specific contributions and role in the project:

Enea wants to be one of the reference platforms that the outcome of this project will be implemented on, and will take part in the in the nanokernel development of the execution platforms and adapt the OSE kernel to this. With cooperation with Enea customers (such as Ericsson Mobile Platforms) Enea will evaluate the developed technology in an industrial environment. Moreover, Enea will contribute to the development of simulation technology matching the Enea products and also take part in the dissemination and exploitation of the results of this project.

Suitability and commitment to the assigned tasks:

Enea has successfully developed and sold real-time software to since 1968. The OSE kernels were introduced during the 1980s and 1990s. The main market is telecom, where Enea kernels are running 50% of all to world's base stations. Other important markets include automotive and medical equipment. Enea has a long experience in real-time software production and marketing, and brings in the expertise that comes with 500 employees in real-time systems development, testing, sales and marketing.
