Thales was established in France more than a century ago, Thales is a global electronics company serving Aerospace, Defence and Information Technology markets world-wide. Its activities range from equipment manufacturer to system integrator and service provider.
Thales Communications France is a French subsidiary of the Thales group that addresses every activity related to telecommunications: mobile radiocommunications, IP networks, satellite communication, aeronautical and naval communication, network administration, identification and radio navigation, information systems and security.
SC2 (Software Core for Computer based systems) is a group within TCF whose mission is to study/provide middleware solutions for the future Thales systems and is acting for the whole Thales group; this team is promoting for several years the use of component middleware and is specially acting in adapting that approach to RT/E systems (cf. in particular the IST COMPARE project).

The TCF team (from SC2) will contribute to the project by enhancing the Component Framework it has already started to develop, with support for scheduling contracts and dynamic reconfiguration of the components. It will also provide a use-case in the field of Software Radio equipment, in order to assess the suitability of the FRESCOR results.

The team has participated to several research initiatives in the area of componentbased middleware, in particular for RT/E systems. The improvement of RT/E software development, to which FRESCOR aims at contributing, is recognized within Thales as a very crucial topic for competitiveness.
